The Secret Gallery held six online auctions for custom pet portraits and raised $1,675 for Clatsop Animal Assistance (CAA).
CAA is a non-profit animal welfare organization that supports the Clatsop County Animal Shelter by paying for veterinary care, cat litter, grooming and other supplies and by promoting the shelter’s adoption program.
CAA president Marcy Dunning says, “Clatsop Animal Assistance sends a huge thank you to the Secret Gallery, the participating artists and the bidders for this very creative virtual fundraiser. What a great way for our community to support Clatsop Animal Assistance AND local artists during the pandemic. As always, the donations will go to cover external veterinary and adoption promotion costs for the shelter dogs and cats.”
Every two weeks, starting May 1, 2020 and ending July 31, the gallery auctioned off a custom portrait by a different artist on their website. The winner of each auction will receive a custom portrait of their pet in a frame chosen for the artist by The Secret Gallery.
The artists featured in the virtual auctions were: Spence Snyder, Robert Paulmenn, Jill McVarish, Hickory Mertsching, Noel Thomas, and Cassandra Kim.
Proceeds from each auction were split 50/50 between the artist and Clatsop Animal Assistance (CAA).
